Good Morning Readers,
The biggest obstacle we have in life is ourselves.
Today is a great day. I am going to discuss obstacles in life and how to overcome them. I remember growing up as a child and meeting people that just seemed to have it all together. No matter what they just seemed to excel in life. I would get inspired watching them as they took on life and went in a direction that they knew they would succeed. As I went through my twenties before the accident, I felt like I was on the right track for my life. I had a family. We had a home and jobs. Everything was good but on a small scale. I always felt that there was more that I was supposed to accomplish, but what and how? I just didn’t seem to have a map so…I did nothing. I did nothing to search out new and bigger things in life. My obstacle was fear. Fear of an unknown direction. Fear of failure and rejection had created a stagnant routine. The biggest obstacle we have in life is ourselves. We tend to surround ourselves with people that are as stagnant as our mind. This only creates a pool of doubt and more fear. Think about the opposite. If you worked or hung out with people every day that used their imagination to constantly excel. No fear of the unknown to hold them back. Don’t you think your perspective would change? Fear is not a single event. If you bolster enough courage to come up with a new idea or direction in life, fear will continue to chip away at your confidence. Fear will take every moment it can to remain safe. So when looking at a bigger picture for yourself or your family, remember everything will appear to be challenging along the way until you build a confidence that over comes that daily fear factor. I have observed people that have come to this country with nothing only to make a huge success of themselves. They came here because they had nothing, they left everything to become something. Fear has no foundation when there is nothing left. They have a drive without fear to become something.
After I had recovered from the accident, this is how it was for me. We had discussed bankruptcy and losing everything, all but one thing … us. My wife reminded me daily that we had each other. I had survived an accident that I shouldn’t have, we still had a home, and we had each other. The fear was gone. The fear of failure really couldn’t get any lower. I had become aware of who God was putting in my life and shoot for the stars. The obstacle of fear was still there when a seemingly big decision came up but I was learning that fear was my own creation. I wasn’t going back.
When fear of accomplishing a dream becomes too big, step back and take a long hard look what your mind has created. Look at the fear and see that it really isn’t so bad. The mind will always build it up to something that it isn’t and try to keep its safe place in life. When you step back to look at the obstacle or fear, try and gain a different perspective. Look around to see who God has put in your life to help you. Believe me, I could have easily missed those people if I wasn’t so open to a new and exciting direction. I think one of the most missed opportunities in life is not realizing who God has put in our life for the moments of growth. The ego wants to take life on by itself but God has always made it about the journey. A journey filled with others to help us along the way. We are not supposed to do this by ourselves. It has always been about seeing the perspective of others to create a more meaningful and successful journey.
Just remember, obstacles are the filters in life…They filter out the people that just don’t want it as badly as you.
This was an important time in my life and the people in the book that I recognized were there to help me. Just remember, obstacles are the filters in life. They filter out the people that just don’t want it as badly as you. No matter what goal or achievement you are after there will be obstacles, usually just your own fear. Those that appear to move through obstacles easily want it or need it more. They see obstacles as opportunities and control the fear created in their own mind. People that achieve goals have a need or a drive to move through obstacles and their own fear. Next time you think a dream is being cut short, step back and look at the people around you and look deep inside yourself for the fear that you have created. How bad do you want it? God will always provide a path. Don’t let fear create a dense fog to obscure it. Walk through the fog confidently with the guidance of others.
I hope this offers courage to start your next step in life.
Thank you for reading.
